Verasper Moseri Introduction
Verasper moseri, commonly known as “Barfin Flounder” (Japan), “Lace Baby”, “Flower Leopard”, “Japanese Flounder King” mainly distributed between north of Japan’s Cicheng Village and south of Ochotsk Sea. It can be caught in Japan Sanluwan Sea and Hokkaido Sea area. Besides, it also can be found in Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea in our country, belongs to northern breed. Its large fish lives in cold temperature in bottom. Feature high economic value and breeding value; is a good breed that is worth to be promoted.
Verasper Moseri features following advantages:
1. High economic value, good breeding benefit. It can be sold as 10-20 thousand Japanese Yen/kg which is 5 times as flounder.
2. Good taste. Its taste is better than flounder for it contains more collagen than flounder.
3. Fast growing speed, strong adaption performance. Verasper moseri owns more than 700mm length, 10kg of weight to the largest extent, with rapid growing speed. It will grow into 340mm length, 800g bred by human. Its growth speed is 1.5-2.0 times of verasper variegates. One batch of verasper moseri reaches at 150g, 2 batches of verasper moseri reach at 800g, three batches of verasper moseri reach at 2500-3000g. Verasper moseri eats various foods, with less nutritious level, easily to accept mixing feedstuff. Verasper moseri adapts large temperature range (1-21℃) is able to bear 23℃ high temperature in short period. The most suitable temperature for breeding is 13℃-21℃. Both indoor breeding and sea breeding in net box are acceptable.
4. Strong capacity for anti-disease. Verasper moseri is seldom ill over years of breeding experience. It shows good capacity for anti-disease. In experiment of stimulating Cryptocaroniasis and profile ditch pest, verasper moseri is not sensitive or less sensitive to ditch pest Besides, it is less sensitive to cryptocaroniasis than flounder.
5. Endure transportation and cold storage. Death rate of verasper moseri is less than flounder. Fit for selling live fish. Feature in long stiff time after death; good for ice fresh transportation and selling. After three days of cold storage, muscle cutting force is twice as flounder.
Rongcheng Longdu Aquatics High-Tech Co., Ltd brought in 500 pieces of verasper moseri with 8cm length from Japan’s Yanshou Village Aquatics Cultivation Center in October, 2004. After 2-3 years of cultivation, we cultivated the first batch of fish seed during 2006-2007 and fill the blank of moseri category in northern sea breeding in our country, as well as lay good foundation for promoting this new breed.
